For people who have trained with us

Community Guidelines

This is a private space for people who have trained with Four Threads. Sworn and professional, every role and level: analysts, dispatchers, records staff, victim advocates, public information officers, emergency managers, HR, finance, procurement, IT, and everyone else who keeps an agency running. You are here because you were in a room with us. That is the only qualification.

What stays here, stays here

What people write in this community does not leave it. No screenshots, no quotes, no forwarding, no "a friend of mine said." If you want to share something you read here with a colleague, ask the person who wrote it first.

Anyone who breaks this rule is removed, and we will tell the person whose words were shared.

Change the details

When you describe a situation at work, change anything that would identify the people in it: names, ranks, agency names, dates that would give it away. The point is the situation, not the person. Posts that identify someone will be edited or removed.

Posting anonymously

You can post without your name showing. Members see "Member" and cannot click through to you. The site administrator can see who wrote an anonymous post, and only the site administrator, because someone has to be able to act if a post is abusive or puts a person at risk. That record is kept for as long as the post exists and is not used for anything else.

If you need to say something that nobody at all should be able to trace to you, this is not the place to say it.

Your cohort room

Each training cohort has its own locked room. Only the people who were in that room with you, and the site administrator, can see it. Rooms stay open for at least twelve months after your training.

If someone asks for your posts

Four Threads is a private business, not a government body. The public records laws that apply to your agency do not apply to this community. We will not give your posts, your name, or your membership to an employer, a supervisor, an investigator, or anyone else who asks.

If we are ever legally compelled to, we will tell you first unless the law prevents us from doing so.

If something is wrong

If a post or comment breaks these guidelines or worries you, email us at christine@christinetownsend.com. You will get a reply within two working days, and the person who reported it is never named.

Be kind, be specific, do not sell

This is a warm space, and it is allowed to be a hard one. Disagree with care. Real situations help more than general advice, so say what actually happened and what you actually did. Please do not promote a product, a service, or a job opening here.

Leaving

You can ask to delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, your profile is removed and your posts and comments are kept but shown as written by "a former member," so that the conversations other people took part in still make sense. If you would rather your posts were removed entirely, email us and it will be done within seven days.

We keep the record of emails we have sent you for twelve months for our own records and then delete it.

Who can see what

  • Cohort rooms: only the people who trained in that cohort, and the site administrator.
  • The Alumni Lounge and Introductions: everyone who has trained with us and joined the community.
  • The Noticeboard: everyone in the community; only the community team posts there.
  • Anonymous posts: shown as "Member" with nothing to click; the author is on record with the site administrator only.
  • Your email address and your agency are never shown to other members.

Account and email settings are under your account. Questions about any of this: christine@christinetownsend.com.
